Original Compositions:
The following original compositions are made
availble for personal, non-profit, use only, and are copyright. Public Domain compositions are also available.Note on downloading tunes: The tunes are
high resolution GIFs. Either 1) print the file directly, specifying the
"fit on one page" option in the print dialogue box if this option is available
(don't use the "print" shortcut icon on the tool bar, but use "print"
under the "File" menu to bring up the dialogue box), or 2) save
the file to your hard drive and then insert it into a new Word document having selected
"landscape" mode under "set up". Either option will give a better
quality A4 print out than "reducing" the image in a graphics program before
printing.
| Tune Name: |
Robert McConnell's Welcome to
Wellington |
| Composer: |
Bram van Melle |
| Tune Type: |
Salute (6/8) |
| Date of Composition: |
April, 2000. |
|
 |
| Description: |
"I wrote this tune for Bob McConnell,
the father of my brother-in-law. I performed it for Bob on the day he came to
Wellington to be awarded the Queen's Service Medal for services to the community (local
history research). It should be played solemnly, and I think it is quite a good 'tone'
tune which could be used to good effect in a medley". |

| Tune Name: |
Mr & Mrs van Melle's Diamond
Wedding Anniversary |
| Composer: |
Bram van Melle |
| Tune Type: |
Retreat March (3/4) |
| Date of Composition: |
August 1999 |
|
 |
| Description: |
"I wrote this tune for my
grandparents' diamond wedding anniversary. The whole 'clan' held a big bash at a central
city hotel in Auckland, and as a surprise I marched them in to this tune. The way I have
written it out, with no 'repeats', makes it look longer than it actually is. Like Bob
McConnell's tune above, it is written in A and uses the flat High G on the pipes to give a
modal (ie mixolydian) effect". |
